Returning to Rhythm
Daoist Seasonal Living in Practice: A year-long course.
In our fast-paced Western world, constant action, productivity, and hustle-mindset are rewarded and respected, often at the expense of rest, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. We are taught to keep pushing, not be “lazy”, and to strive for hard work 24/7, 365 days a year. As a result, many of us feel as though we are living out of sync with our bodies, to the extent of experiencing physical and mental symptoms such as fatigue, brain-fog, anxiety, digestive issues, chronic pain and more that significantly impact our day-to-day experiences.
This modern lifestyle ignores a fundamental truth recognised in Daoist philosophy and Traditional Chinese culture for thousands of years: life moves in cycles. Nature does not grow, expand, and produce endlessly. It rests, retreats, conserves, and renews, and human beings (as parts of nature!) are no different.
This course invites you to look inwards, and get back in touch with the natural rhythms your body knows, but has forgotten. Gentle and simple techniques will be shared to guide yourself back into a natural equilibrium, as well as exploration of your unique personality and preferences to discover which of the 5 elements you are most naturally aligned with, and how you can use this knowledge to guide and inform your new seasonal practice.
